The mission of Ala Costa Centers that is honored and promoted through the varied programs that serve people is to enable school-aged children and young adults with developmental disabilities, including autism, to find, use and strengthen their unique skills and talents, and to support their families.
Program Info
The Adult Community Training [ACT] Program is, a 100% community-based adult day program serving the intellectually and developmentally disabled community in Berkeley, Oakland and surrounding areas. ACT focuses on Vocational Skills, Self-Determination, Community Integration and Independent Living Skills.
Ala Costa’s Adult Transition Program [ACAT] serves transition age participants ages 18-22 with intellectual and developmental disabilities from the Berkeley Unified School District and North Region SELPA. ACAT is a 100% community-based program that focuses on self-determination skills, vocational skills, independent living skills, and community integration. We work with Berkeley Unified School District to ensure all participant meet their IEP goals.
Ala Costa Centers’ non-profit after-school program for special needs offers school-aged children with developmental disabilities academic support, enrichment activities, and help to develop the skills and self-esteem that this underserved population needs for success in life. Families rely on Ala Costa to provide services that enable children with developmental disabilities to learn so that when they are in the classroom or on their own, they have the skills needed to absorb and process information.
Active and Current Individualized Education Plan or Formal Diagnosis of Intellectual/Developmental Disability. Formal Intake is conducted by respective Program of interest to match student/participant support needs and person centered dreams and ambitions with the program offerings.
