California’s Lanterman Act Now Available in Spanish

We’re excited to announce DDS has released the Spanish Translation of California’s Lanterman Developmental Disabilities Services Act. In recent years, Spanish-speaking communities across the state have advocated for the translation of the law to better support individuals and families to understand their rights and access the services that they need. With their collaboration and the contracted work of Cal Interpreting & Translations (CIT), DDS has made the Spanish translated Lanterman Ac available on its website.

Since 1969, The Lanterman Act has protected the rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and their families and remained the foundation of developmental services in our state. This translation of the landmark law is a crucial step supporting DDS’s ongoing priorities to increase language access and improve equity and inclusion across developmental services.

DDS values the work of advocates and community leaders to reach this accomplishment and looks forward to the continued collaboration to make services and supports more accessible and equitable for all Californians with IDD.
